Potential Origins of Europeans Found
DNA from 24 skeletons of European farmers from about 7,500 years ago has been compared with that of modern Europeans. Most were found to be of a lineage that is very rare in modern Europe. The researchers concluded that modern central Europeans are descended from Stone Age hunter-gatherers of 40,000 years ago rather than the early farmers who arrived later, but other scientists disagree.

Hunting Season Opens for Mythical Creature
The Storsjo monster in Lake Storsjon, Sweden, has been mentioned in literature since 1635, but there has never been any proof that it exists. In 1986 it was put on the local endangered species list, but it has now been removed after a government watchdog challenged the decision.
